This is one of those blog posts that is written to help us know when Roy did a couple of projects and what it looked like! The first project is the replacement of the glass in one of our bedroom windows. The second is pressure washing all of the exterior and touch up painting those places that need it.
Roy’s been on a roll taking care of projects around the house and I want to acknowledge his hard work that I greatly appreciate!
First is a window replacement project. One of the windows in our bedroom has had a broken seal from what we think was a rock hitting it while the grass was being cut a few years ago. It’s the top half of the window below.
When we moved into the house I wanted the view from that window to include blueberries, lantanas, azaleas, crawling daisies and more. It will take a couple of years for the view to be what I want it to be. Before it can get there the ugly window from the broken seal had to be replaced.
Roy went to Gabriel Building Supply in Amite where we purchased all the house windows back in 2015. They looked back in their records and ordered the glass for us. A couple of weeks later the glass came in and Roy began the process of changing out the glass. After a long way into the process, Roy realized that the glass was too big. Grrrrr…..
He thought about it for a while and remembered that when we originally purchased the windows they sent out several wrong size windows. That’s the ordering info they looked at when ordering this glass, not the reordering information of the correct size windows. Roy went through putting the original broken glass back in. Once that was done Roy brought back the wrong size which was a Covid experience because Gabriel’s was really closed except to commercial customers. They helped Roy anyway and got the right size ordered!
Alas, two weeks later Roy picked up the new correct size glass and when through the whole process again to replace the glass. Look at how nice and clear the top part of the window is!
Now I can easily open the window and most important can see the growing flowers and blueberries through the beautifully clear window glass! It will take a while for the flower plants to grow big enough to see easily but I look forward to how beautiful it will be!
Roy does not do anything halfway. The bottom portion of that bedroom window has always been difficult to raise to open. The window in Roy’s office is easy to open but we never open it because it’s behind the desk. I open my bedroom window as often as I can to let in cool breezes. So, he removed the bottom portion of the bedroom window and swapped it with the bottom portion of the office window!
The second project was the annual and sometimes semi-annual pressure washing of our home’s exterior. We have a large pond in the back and a gravel road in the front where dust is kicked up whenever someone drives a bit to fast down our road. Those two things cause a layer of dirt to collect on the outside of the house making it look nasty. Some may never notice it but we do!
It’s unbelievable that I failed to take any pictures of Roy working so hard to clean the exterior but I did. I know, right?!! This is the only one I took and Roy was taking a short break in it!
I did take some photos of the house after it was washed and here they are. Here’s our small little home all shiny and pretty! Roy touched up any place that needed it on all the white trim.
Roy worked hard on each of those projects as he always does. I’m not sure what project he will be taking on next, maybe finishing the old rocker restoration. Maybe he will get some rest now!
