From time to time our youngest son Chip comes to visit on his day off. Today was one of those special days! He dropped precious Madisyn off at school and was at our house around 9 am.
Most of the day was spent down by our pond. Chip and Roy fished, I cheerleaded and several fish were caught. It took a while to catch the 7 small perch and one catfish but they got them!
Here they are fishing
Here’s the fish they caught All seven fish!
It’s been years since Chip cleaned fish so Roy gave him a refresher course and he did great!
Chip brought some french fries and cooked those and our big mess of fish! He did all the cooking and it was quite a treat for both Roy and I.
There might not have been a lot of fish but they were delicious! After eating we all rested on the sofa and wrapped up the wonderful visiting we were able to do today.
About the title above “Everyone should have a Chip.” Chip is always helping me remember things that happened in my past. And you know we have ducks. We were talking on the phone when I told him about all of the eggs our Peep has laid. He reminded me of the time we had several ducks when we lived on Hinson Road (the house the boys grew up in). He remembered that some baby ducks were laid and hatched in between the walls in our barn. That was a sweet cool memory. But then he reminded me of the so sad event when several of the baby ducks tried to get water out of our hot tub. They fell in and the covering over the water kept them down below the water. When Chip went to check on them the next day he found them there.
It was a terrible experience for a little boy to have. But his recollection of it included the fact that the ducks that died were “all of the New Kids on the Block” and ducks named after their friends Ronnie and Lauren. Somehow Duck Chip and Duck Chad weren’t in the drowning group. Somehow remembering we had ducks named Duck Joey, Duck Danny and the other New Kids and the whole event just made me burst out laughing. Chip remembers the details of everything in his life and I always enjoy them when he shares them in the special way he does it! I laughed and laughed and laughed remembering all that! When I hung up from talking to him about this my first thought was “Everyone should have a Chip!”
I absolutely love how he remembers all the details of things that I’ve long forgotten. He’s good for an old lady that doesn’t have access to a lot of things my brain once contained. I’m thankful he continues to help me fill in the blanks and makes me laugh!
Ya’ll have a Blessed weekend!
