They Called Him “Immanuel”, because He is actually with Us.
He’s with us… Right here.
It’s not like Jesus is “just a phone call away” like our friends and family may be. He doesn’t need to hop in his car. We don’t need to catch Him at a good time, or make sure it’s not too late.
He’s already available. And always available.
Although we need to turn our awareness to Him, there is nothing we can do that will dictate how near He is.
Immanuel. Closer to us than we are too ourselves.
So, if you sit in grief, you can rest assured that you don’t sit in it alone. Jesus not only understands it, but He feels it with you.
When you feel alone, you can know that although there may not be anyone there physically, you are surrounded by the love of God and the song He sings over you.
In the doubting, the fear or anxiety, you can rest in the ever-present help that is right there with you.
The one who calms the storm is in your boat right this very moment.
When sadness hits, it’s Immanuel that keeps track of your tears and binds up your wounds.
And in your joy, in the peace you experience, it’s Him that is the source.
God with us.
Not God at a distance. God here. Now.
Always, every second, every day.
No matter what is happening in your life right now, you are not alone.
They called Him Immanuel for a reason.
Because He is our constant companion, inseparable and everlasting in love.
God is with you.
Open your eyes and heart to Him. You’ll see.
