A quiet thought from Sunday, May 17th, By Bro. Bob Adams
Church is not like it used to be! Neither is shopping, sports, business, travel, medicine . . . the list is endless.
The ground beneath our feet has convulsed and turned the old paths into rubble. Everything has an odd feel to it.
It is tempting to long for yesterday to come again with its familiar routines and predictable ways.
It is a vain longing, an empty hope.
Tomorrow will not look like yesterday!
What shall we do in these changing days?
Let us not spend the time longing for the way it used to be, singing the screeching songs of a frightened world, looking for someone to blame, justifying arrogance and pride.
Rather, let us clear our throats and sing . . .
“In my church, Lord, be glorified! Be glorified!”
“In my home, Lord, be glorified! Be glorified!”
“In my work, Lord, be glorified! Be glorified!”
“In my travel . . . buying . . . resting . . . playing . . .!”
The goal of the Christian life is not to have things as we like them but to be transformed into the image of Jesus and bring Him joy – regardless of what life is like on the outside.
What a beautiful and freeing truth! Grace to you!
